About

Bio:

Rachel Elizabeth is an emerging Welsh artist living in South London. With a background in Fashion, Art and Marketing, Rachel has a flair for story-telling and brings this to her artwork. Her current collections are heavily influenced by nature and feminism, inspired by the variety of colour and composition seen in works by Frida Kahlo, Gustav Klimt and George O’Keffe. She plays with the concept of imperfect beauty, challenging the way we see ourselves and embracing the light and the dark to unlock our potential and truth.

During the Covid-19 pandemic and faced with no employment, Rachel took a leap of faith and created her first abstract collection in 2020, ‘A Dream State of Mind’. She first exhibited her work in Blackheath Creatives Art Week Pop up in 2023. Rachel has sold a number of original paintings alongside limited print collections, and works closely with her clients to create unique commissions for their homes and loved ones.

As an emerging artist Rachel continues to evolve. In developing her practice to align with her purpose, she was recently listed as an artist of the London Body Studio who is empowering women to feel confident in their bodies.

On self-love

"Art for me is a form of self-reflection and growth. I’ve always struggled with self-confidence. But when I create art, with every new piece of work I unlock another layer of myself, and I can speak my truth a little louder. I love spending time with myself to create art, giving my throughts a space of their own. That for me is practicing self-love."

On inspiration

"I’m deeply inspired by nature, music and topics of feminism. I work in layers; whether that’s in abstract form, sketch or painting, and each layer unveils a new meaning. I often paint flowers, the figure and abstracts encompassing the three elements of myself that I love most: Creative (playful = flowers), Psychological (reflective = the figure) and Spiritual (subjective = abstract)"
